Summary:
The Carpenter works with the General Manager and building team to construct and remodel custom-built homes. This position performs rough and finish carpentry, including building frameworks, partitions, door and window frames, wooden stairways, rafters, and flooring. The Carpenter interprets project plans, prepares and installs materials, and completes work with attention to accuracy, craftsmanship, and job-site safety.

Basic Duties:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and project specifications to determine materials, dimensions, and construction requirements.
  • Take accurate measurements; mark, cut, shape, and modify raw and finish materials to meet project specifications.
  • Construct, assemble, and install building frameworks, partitions, door and window frames, staircases, rafters, and other structures using raw materials or prefabricated components.
  • Install siding, roofing, insulation, drywall, flooring, cabinets, trim, and moulding.
  • Inspect completed work for accuracy, fit, finish, and consistency with project plans; make adjustments or repairs as needed.
  • Perform related construction tasks, including light electrical, plumbing, tile, and granite work, as assigned and within applicable qualification, licensing, and supervision requirements.
  • Use and maintain hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and appropriately.
  • Follow applicable building codes, regulations, company procedures, and governmental safety requirements; use required personal protective equipment.
  • Coordinate with the General Manager, coworkers, and subcontractors to support accurate and timely project completion; report material needs, project concerns, and safety hazards.
  • Maintain clean, orderly work areas and properly handle and store materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Four to five years of carpentry experience, with a strong working knowledge of rough and finish carpentry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to take precise measurements and perform calculations needed for layout, cutting, and installation.
  • Extensive knowledge of common construction materials, hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
  • Possession of basic hand tools needed to perform assigned carpentry work.
  • Reliable transportation to assigned job sites.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently on assigned tasks, and collaborate effectively with coworkers and subcontractors.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
The position involves hands-on construction work at active residential construction and remodeling sites. Essential duties require the ability to perform the following activities, with or without reasonable accommodation:
 
  • Stand and walk for extended periods; bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Climb and work from ladders and navigate uneven surfaces.
  • Lift and carry materials weighing 80 pounds, using appropriate assistance or equipment when needed for safe handling.
  • Use the manual dexterity and coordination needed to operate tools, handle materials, and complete detailed carpentry work.
  • Work indoors and outdoors, including exposure to changing weather conditions, dust, noise, and typical construction-site hazards.
